Unicorns, Darth Vader and Bad Techno Music

So Chris Z and I are doing this shindig in May – the ARTSOUNDYOU! retreat.

It’s basically five days of fabulousness for folks who want to get their mojo back. People who feel ughed out by life, beaten up by their to-do list or totally tweaked by an overdose of adultishness.

There will be sound stuff. And art stuff.

That’s kind of a given. Especially when Chris and I are hanging out together.

(Plus these things can be crazy helpful when you want to find your groove and get your gorgeous back*.)

But beyond banging on drums and throwing paint around, the secret superpower of this retreat is that it’s going to be fun. Like off-the-chain-laugh-til-you-almost-pee-your-pants fun.

So, yeah. It’s going to be awesome.

And, yeah, I’d love it if you’d come and hang out with us. And gong some singing bowls. And push some paint around. And almost pee your pants laugh like crazy.

But I’m not going to get all market-ey and go all yellow-highlighter-flashing-red-text-sign-up-now-or-forever-hold-your-peace on you.

Because, ew.

And because it’s so not me.

But I really do want you to know how much this thing is going to rock. And how much better you’ll feel when you leave.

So here are the deets on the retreat. Registration is open until April 15th.

And here’s a quick 3-minute-ish video that’s less about the retreat and more about paying homage to unicorns, bad techno music and a galaxy far, far away.

Even if you’re not normally a video person, you might like this one.

Wherein Darth Vader meets a unicorn & shakes his money maker

*The cool part about the sound stuff and the art stuff is that it’s totally a no-experience-required kind of deal. You don’t have to be a musician. Or an artist. Or anything even close. You don’t even have to know what a singing bowl is.

And, seriously, if Darth Vader can do it, you can do it.

For real.

p.s. This is a pretty fabulous way to say eff cramming.

    Hi Fabeku,

The retreat sounds fun! I wish you all the best for a lively, healing, lovely time — I’m sure it will be great.

I’ve been enjoying your posts and Tweets. Keep up the great work.
P.S. I think this is the first time I’ve seen the words, “Darth Vader” and “unicorn” in the same sentence. Too funny!

Awesome video – I loved the storytelling! After watching it, I have no trouble imagining the laugh-til-you-almost-pee-your-pants fun!
I really wish I could be there… Next time, maybe.

Ok, now I really can’t wait until May. I need to learn to breathe like Darth.

p.s. I kept waiting for the newly-mojo’d Darth to go after the cute little unicorn. Whew.

Oh. My. Buddha. This video is pure awesomeness. Love it. Love you.

And, as a resident of faraway lands, I am completely envious of everyone who gets to hang out at a retreat with you and Chris. (I can barely type that without fainting, by the way.)

    I heart you all lots.

The fact that you watched this video-of-much-kookiness, and got it, and dug it…

    Yep, you rock.

And a big shout out to the power of the magical unicorn!

so I first saw this video traveling with Chris Z to Ghost Ranch last year…and I actually have one of these instruments, as well as many others! I have a bamboo version of the Thai mouth harp, as well as several of the metal ones–which I think also really rock, once I got over the chipped teeth I got while learning to play. I was told that the bamboo harp was played in the forest at times of courting. so sweet! I would so love to go to the ArtSoundYou but can’t swing it this time. I paint with Chris, but also have a bin of also wacky instruments that don’t suck!…sigh
